The F117 Nighthawk Collection

The F-117 Nighthawk™ collection model is the most enigmatic stealth aircraft in aviation history - the Lockheed Martin F-117 Nighthawk™ , the world's first aircraft to be invisible to radar. With its sophisticated design, the model reflects the smooth and aerodynamic contours of the aircraft in graphite grey. The diamond-shaped anthracite black bezel and the colour-coordinated, angled links of the bracelet also stand out with their elegant style. The case has been sandblasted for a matt look, reminiscent of the surface of an aeroplane. As a special touch, the Arabic numerals on the dial and bezel feature the same lettering used in the cockpit, giving the 6441 model an understated look that matches the F-117 Nighthawk thanks to a combination of the CARBONOX™+ material and the bidirectional rotating bezel. In addition, the watch combines luminous numerals with Super-LumiNova with Luminox Light Technology (LLT), which guarantees ultimate night vision for up to 25 years thanks to the use of tritium tubes.

The design of the new Luminox F-117 Nighthawk™ collection is based on the most mysterious stealth jet in aviation history and the world's first radar-insensitive aircraft: the Lockheed Martin F-117 Nighthawk™. The US Navy SEALs are not the only military personnel to wear Luminox watches - the US fighter pilots at Edwards Air Force Base are also equipped with timepieces designed and manufactured by this traditional Swiss watch manufacturer. Initially, the elite pilots wore the models specially produced for the Navy SEALs with the engraved inscription ‘Navy’. These watches met all their requirements, but they were desperate to have a model made specifically for the US Air Force. So they contacted Luminox with a request to develop such a model - equipped with all the typical features of the proven iconic design and the self-powered Luminox Light Technology (LLT) illumination system, which is standard on all timepieces in the Luminox series. Luminox contacted the renowned fighter jet manufacturer Lockheed Martin® and asked if they would be interested in working together. This led to a partnership that continues to this day to develop a series of watches especially for pilots - with the iconic Lockheed Martin® jets as the design template.

The first watch in this collection was part of the USAF Stealth series in black PVD-coated steel, reminiscent of the design of the F-117 Nighthawk™. Other models followed, inspired by the unique, innovative jets of the world's largest aerospace defence and technology group. The Luminox F-117 series is characterised by a sandblasted case, a diamond-shaped, faceted crown and Arabic lettering in the same font used in the cockpit of the F-117. The overall design of this watch, from the angled links of the bracelet to the angular case shape and lettering, is completely reminiscent of the sleek, futuristic look of the Lockheed Martin® F-117 Nighthawk™, whose triangular reflective panels make it invisible to the radar of other jets. The pilot's watch also features two time zone displays, a bidirectional rotating bezel and excellent legibility even in the dark thanks to the special ‘Glow in the Dark’ effects of Super-LumiNova.
