Inspired by the Berlin railway station in Hamburg in the 1850s, this watch is truly timeless. The sepia-coloured, satin-finished dial with fine curvature and weekday display, the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and the gold-plated stainless steel case make the Berlin ready for the 21st century. It is 15 December 1846: the first train to run between Berlin and Hamburg is waiting for the starting signal for its long-awaited test run. What nobody knows at this point is that this test run lays the foundation for a network of routes that will enable a completely new way of travelling. We wanted to capture this sense of wonder and combine it with the cosiness of another century. The result is the Berlin model with day of the week and date display. The 38 mm case in champagne gold and the bracelet emphasise the vintage style of the watch. With a case height of 8 mm, the Berlin is comfortable to wear on the wrist and combines timeless style with minimalist design. Sternglas only uses sapphire crystal for its timepieces - we double anti-reflective coating the sapphire crystal for a perfect view of the dial. What exactly is sapphire crystal? Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world after diamond and moissanite. Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, but also makes the durable watch glass even more resistant. This makes it almost impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to be scratched in everyday life.

With the Berlin model, vintage meets minimalist design and creates a timepiece with a unique look. The dial is limited to the essentials and still offers you displays for the date and day of the week. The underside of the 10 mm high case is adorned with an engraving of the Berlin railway station in our home city of Hamburg. After its construction in 1857, it was the westernmost terminus of this railway line for 46 years and made the ‘fast’ journey from Hamburg to Berlin possible in 9 hours. The quartz movement Miyota GM02 works behind the screw-down steel back.
