For more than a century, Seiko has been synonymous with outstanding watchmaking and innovative technology. The journey began in 1913 with the introduction of Seiko's first mechanical watch and has continued over the decades with ground-breaking developments. Today, these years of experience and the continuous pursuit of perfection culminate in the Presage collection, a series of watches equipped exclusively with mechanical calibres and appreciated for their precision, quality and aesthetic beauty.

Seiko's history is rich in innovation and technical masterpieces. In 1956, Seiko presented its first automatic watch, followed in 1958 by the development of its own shock absorber system, Diashock, which ensured the precision of the watches even when subjected to shocks. A year later, in 1959, Seiko invented the Magic Lever winding mechanism and in 1964 began manufacturing its own balance springs from the special alloy Spron. These developments cemented Seiko's reputation as a pioneer in the art of watchmaking. Another significant advance was the presentation of the first Japanese-made calibre with a fast balance wheel in 1967. Two years later, in 1969, Seiko introduced the world's first automatic chronograph with a vertical clutch and column wheel. These innovations led to the Grand Seiko fast oscillating calibre being awarded the "Grand Prix d'Horlogerie" in Geneva in 2014. More than a century of experience and continuous innovation in the field of Seiko mechanical watches have led to the creation of the Presage collection. This collection, which has already enjoyed great success in Japan and selected markets, is now being launched worldwide and is being spotlighted as Seiko's leading mechanical watch collection.

Presage draws its inspiration from Seiko's rich heritage in mechanical watchmaking, dating back to the famous 1913 "Laurel", Seiko's first wristwatch and the first wristwatch ever made in Japan. This heritage is honoured by two special limited edition automatic chronographs with a design reminiscent of the Laurel. These models are equipped with the Calibre 8R48, which ensures perfect synchronisation of the chronograph hands at the zero position. A prominent feature of the Presage collection is the use of enamel dials, which are striking in their beauty, depth and subtle texture. Each individual dial is crafted by artisans under the direction of Mitsuru Yokozawa. The production of these dials requires a high degree of precision and skill, as the effects of weather and moisture can easily affect the surface quality of the enamel layer.

The Presage collection comprises 60 models and uses the full range of Seiko's mechanical calibres, from the affordable calibre 4R to the calibre 6R and the exclusive calibre 8R. Highlights include models featuring the multifunctional calibre 6R27 with residual energy indicator and a series featuring a new version of the calibre 4R57, Seiko's first automatic calibre with a central residual energy indicator. Japan is known for its long and uninterrupted cultural history, in which the preservation of traditions is highly valued. Enduring beauty and reliability are central aspects of Japanese culture and are reflected in Japanese craftsmanship. Presage is characterised by this tradition in both design and manufacture and offers maximum reliability and durability. Every Presage watch is built to last for generations. The Seiko Presage collection is the result of more than one hundred years of experience and continuous innovation in mechanical watchmaking. With high-quality materials, precise mechanical calibres and aesthetically pleasing design, Presage combines the best of tradition and modern technology. These watches are more than just timepieces; they are a testament to Seiko's constant pursuit of perfection and a symbol of deeply rooted Japanese craftsmanship. The Presage collection is synonymous with timeless beauty, enduring reliability and exceptional watchmaking that will endure for generations.
